Science is a journey of discovery. Students are travelers,
seeking out the marvels of the Universe; their teachers are their guides.
Together they follow the paths forged by researchers,
those most intrepid explorers of uncharted territory.

Welcome...

        ...to my web site.

Through my company, Acorn Enterprises Ltd, I provide a range of science communication services both on and off the Isle of Man. Through these I aim to help others appreciate and understand the marvels of the physical universe which I find so fascinating.

My background is in the physical sciences – specifically I have an MPhys in Physics with Astrophysics and a PhD in Cosmology – and I have a long-standing interest in communicating mathematical subjects to a range of audiences, from primary school children to pensioners.

You can read more about my principle activities – tutoring, giving talks and running workshops and master classes – in the relevant sections of this web site, but I am always interested in, and willing to organize or help with, other science communication projects so please feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss something a little out of the ordinary. If you're stuck for ideas or inspiration, take a look at the other projects page to see some previous events I have been involved with.

I will be writing a number of new talks this year, including some based on Cosmology/Astronomy, details of which will be available here soon.
